Thus far I have made five visits to the nesting site at East Leake Quarry near Rempstone, Nottinghamshire, UK to see the Bee Eaters which are rare summer visitors. It is so wonderful to be able to see these flying around here in the UK and to have them nesting here too is sensational.  This week (late July) it was announced that all three nests at this site now have chicks that have hatched. The RSPB volunteers were also kind enough to allow me to paint both of my Bee Eater designs on site at the RSPB car park where I had the opportunity to talk to many of the people who came to view these particular birds.

Due to my excursions to this nesting site, I was able to take sufficient photographs using my Canon digital zoom camera to compose this second acrylic painting.  For the painting, I have used Winsor & Newton acrylic paints which have great pigment and really bring out the colours of these magnificent birds.  There will only be 150 limited edition prints offered worldwide in this particular format (stretched canvas format).
