Green Woodpecker in English Woodland:  Acrylic painting on stretched canvas (406mm x 507mm).  One of my great pleasures in life is to get out into the countryside and experience nature.  Back in 2016 I was walking through one of our beautiful country parks and spotted this Green Woodpecker hunched up, resting between courses perhaps.  Quite often I only get fleeting glances of Green Woodpeckers and most times at great distance.  But on this ocassion it just sat there on a well visited, rotting oak tree branch that was piercing through the otherwise Common Lime foliage.  I got close enough to take some reasonable photos and one was the inspiration for this artwork.  I hope you like it.  I am releasing it via my online shop as a limited edition print availaible in two formats (stretched canvas like the original and also on heavy Fabriano 100% cotton 310gms watercolour paper.
